Change in Tone

Change in Tone

For the past year, we have lived and tried to travel in our RV. We’ve not seen nearly as much as we would like, we haven’t done as much as we’d like, and we haven’t spoke up about some of the problems we face every day as we struggle with issues in the RV, struggles with our health, struggles with finances and other things. There will be a change in tone coming though as we focus more on our story, our lives, our problems and our demons.

I’m done hiding. I’m done keeping things from people. We are two grown adults, flaws and all, and we do our best to stay afloat while the world seems to fall apart around us and things go to crap repeatedly. I may bitch about political issues, I will bitch about the crappy health care system, I’ll talk about the help we have received and where it came from. I’m done with this internet persona I try to maintain.

I built Bubba On The Road over a year ago with the intent to supplement our income some and make things easier. In that time, while we have gotten a lot of stuff and done reviews for it, we’ve made about $25 in affiliate links. That’s it. That’s seriously two months of hosting, so we actually lose money maintaining our blogs. So if its not making money as is, then what is the point of keeping it that way? Its clear people don’t really care about the reviews all that much, they get enough views, but it hasn’t grown as much as I had hoped. So screw that.

The time has come to open up, bare it all, and present the full, unabridged, unedited, unfiltered story of our lives.

I have long believed that a person should not be measured and praised for degrees or a job, but who they are as a person. They can be rich and famous and powerful, but if they are a black-hearted asshole in how they treat others, then that is who they are. I’ve tried to stay neutral and polite and professional here, but that’s not working out, so maybe its time to open the floodgates and let everything out.

Maybe with us telling our story, telling the struggles we deal with every day, maybe then the right person will happen upon this site and read how we deal and maybe it will help them. If we can help others and show them that they are not alone in this fight, that there are others who struggle with the same thing, that there are others dealing with this same crap day in and day out, then we’ll be better off.

Do we need more financial security we could get from this site? Certainly, even a few hundred extra a month would be an incredible change for us. But I would rather piss off some people, lose some followers, if it means finding and helping people who are in this situation with us.

We refuse to allow other people’s opinions to control us. Their issues with themselves are not our fault nor our problem. But we do need to make an impact, we do want to help others, and if changing the tone here does that, then we’ve succeeded.
